  1. Hello again,
The presentation today was long and interesting. I saw lots of the observer enjoying and participating in the activities. The PIBBA song surprised me a lot, I guessed because I'm not used to but it was how we perceived people's feelings which I saw that gentleman from Kosrae who could stand up and sing a song to the audience with no fear in him. He was awesome!

  6. I am very glad to post today that I have done the pretests with my target group and have found their level of performances. And now I know where to work from. I have made some reading materials from the web to teach the students reading comprehension and fluency.

  7. Hello Dr.Rivera!

Since the conference will be going on a field trip up to Madolenihmw and I have class at 9:00 to 12:30, I decided to stay back at the college to work on my the requirement that are needed to be complete. I am glad to be working with some of the students at my place from 6:30- 7:15 p.m.It's very kind hard to work with different level of learning because three of them are under ECE program, four of them were first graders, and the rest were from second grade up to sixth grade. Most of the time I usually do group work with them and I have two student that already graduate from elementary which they assist the student as tutors.

  8. Today is the last day for the PIBBA Conference. We arrived at Nett a little bit late, and there was no session it was the closing ceremony. I listen to some speakers today, and I believe the message they were delivering today is to bring back the culture especially the language. It is very important to teach English at the same time teaching our own culture. We should not bury the culture we have but to continue practicing it. We came back in the after noon we could not make it to the trip since we have class in the afternoon. Once again this PIBBA Conference is a great experience and I learned a lot from all the presentations I attended.

  9. I didn't go to Nett because it's useless to go there at 9:30 and the closing program already finish.

  10. Today I went with the 9:30 trip. when we got to NETTS elementary school the PIBBA conference was already in session, they were doing the closing remarks. my colleagues and I went back out to the waiting area to wait for our ride. we waited, and waited for an hour and a half. while waiting people started driving out of the school for lunch. I felt sorry for me and my fellow classmate waiting in the humid climate, hungry and exhausted. Finally around 1 the bus arrived.

  11. Kaselehlia! Please note that the closing ceremony continued at Madolenihmw with the Nanmwariki (King) Madolenihmw Kingdom, as part of the traditional Sakau Ceremony. It was a priceless cultural experience!

    Kalangan,
    Dr. Rivera

  12. I attended the closing ceremony at Nett Elementary School. They were saying that the ceremony will continue at Madolenihmw but I knew that we wouldn't be able to make it since we had class at 3:30pm. We imagine that if we went at 1:30pm we would reach there about 3:00pm and 3:30pm is was our next class with Dr. Ferrer. We had to go back and I worked on my Action Plan and Literature Review.

  13. Good morning Dr. Rivera. I Got down from the bus around 10:00am, then me and my other classmates walked straight to the building B where the closing ceremony takes placed. My classmates and I just stand outside the classrooms and observed the speeches that was delivered by the Pibba members and the President of the Pibba. From one of those speeches I come to learned Chamorros traditional ways of greeting people in the high rank. They use to touched in the chest of the person to show respect. However, this greeting was no longer used by the chamorros because they said that its not proper to touch women breast. After that speech, the raised of the paddle key which offered by the Director of Education Mr. Joseph Villazon. And right after that I left and wait for the bus.

  14. I went to Madolenihmw at 3:30PM. I was late because I couldn't find a ride. But the feast went very well. It involves how people in Pohnpei prepared their local food traditionally. There was a lot of people there. They served many local foods. It was a very good feast and many of the foods we're served to the people who came to join the feast.

  15. I did not attend any session on June 28, 2012 because the time I finished my class with Professor Susan Moses, its already 12:30. At that time those people who are at Nett already went to Madolenihmw to continued the closing ceremony. I did not attend the ceremony, but I heard news from the people in my village that the ceremony have traditional dances, they sang songs, served foods in Pwaht, and etc.

  18. Kaselelie maing Dr.Rivera,
I could tell that this day of the conference would be the joyous day, due to the fact that it is the last day. I did heard from someone that during these kind of gatherings people usually save the best things last. Unfortunately I was not able to find a ride when my 11:00 o'clock was done. I just wish that could find a ride up to Madoenihmw to join the final day of this important conference.

  20. Good afternoon Dr. Rivera, I cannot comment on yesterday's session because when I finished with my class at com, I met some of my classmates and they told me that the sessions finished early. Then I worked on my assignment for our classes and left @ 5 O'clock. When I reached home, which is close to the nanmwarki's kingdom, all the participants were all gone. Thank you!

  22. Yesterday, we went there and the ceremony was already started. We walk up to the very front and saw Damian Sohl giving a speech. We then listen to Dr.Cruz sing a song in English and Chamorro to honor the ones (our brothers and sisters)that passed away. Dr. Cruz also share with us about one of their cultures in which they show respect by touching the chest. Honestly, back in Guam I never learn that in Chamorro class only words/languages. Well I think that`s all and thank you all.
